I can't appreciate any movie where I don't like the main characters. Ennis was so insensitive that he passionately kissed his lover in broad daylight, where his wife could see. Plus he couldn't respond to his lover's desire to live with him, except to say it was impossible. Gay or straight, that's not a sympathetic character. And Jack seemed to want sex, no matter where it came from, though he claimed to love Ennis. Nice scenery, though.

I'm straight and have no interest in watching this movie. In fact it just proves to me even more how idiotic the Academy awards commitee is when picking movies. Afterall look at all the BIGGER movies that out do movies such as this one that get ignored. I enjoyed King Kong and it wasn't nominated for best picture and look at how many people went to see it.
Its amazing how a bomb of a movie gets praised and movies that are a HUGE success get ignored. Just goes to show that the majority gets ignored by Hollywood when it comes to awarding the hard work of movies that ARE welcomed by the public.

I am straight.I saw this movie in Harlingen Tx and the theater was packed with what appeared to be a mostly straight audience. This was probably one of the most haunting and heart wrenching movies that I have seen in a very long time.I hope that people will be more tolerant after watching it.The definition of tolerance is to allow to exist without harm. For those religious right wingers out there I think that that is the very least that Jesus would expect of us.

Hello from Dublin Ireland. I went to see Brokekack last night and sat in a packed theatre full of couples and gays-very mxed audience. It was spellbinding to say the least-I have never seen an audience so still at the climax of any movie-wow.I am a gay man and yes,I suppose I would be biased towards the film-but I really was impressed with this very moving piece. The film is playing to packed houses here and it is very difficult to get a ticket.

Well Willy, 4 Golden Globes won, 9 BAFTA nominations and full cinemas in Europe Box Office receipts growing week on week can't say that about most movies can you with losses of 50% on previous weekend figures. BTW $32 mil is just the US there is a world out there so you can reasonably expect DOUBLE the haul it has so far achieved. Money aside there is an artistic merit to this movie. Can you say that about Doom, Fantastic 4, Cabin Fever or dare i mention it? Final Destination 3!

Well when backed up against the wall kittybinks shows its true colors. Lets see the sign of higher thought and enlightened thinking starts off with name calling. calling those who have opposing thoughts as homophobes and rednecks. Wow what an incredible person of virtue and peace they must be. Fact this movie is avg at best. The subject matter is not overly believable if you know the people in the country. They wouldn't think of homosexuality and if you look at the box office returns in those states the movie is doing very poorly. I live in Chgo and it was mostly empty. Why does anyone want to support and cheer for a movie that promotes cheating on your spouse? PS the movie is loosing money, 32Mil in sales does not translate into Profit after costs of production distribution and oh yes the millions they're spending in advertising propping this movie up.

Homophobic comments about a subject matter you know absolutely nothing about on goes to validate the impressions that Rednecks are the most ignorant people to walk the planet..........Hello gay subject, hetrosexual actors with the courage of their own convictions to produce an outstanding piece of work that shows that the characters struggle with their innermost feelings, trying vainly to live "normal" lives. Thank God for movies like this, they push boundries both on an artistic and moral level, whilst not gloryfying their actions, indeed you feel for the women also trapped in their lives.

Batman: How can you judge anything you obviously haven't even seen. This movie was very powerful and the many couples in the audience when I saw the movie here in Salt Lake City truthfully seemed to enjoy it. Get acting. I hope Heatrh Ledger does get nominated for an Oscar and wins. His performance is deep and beautiful, even gutwretching. I am so tired to the right-wing judging things they have not ever seen.
