Comments:	A well acted, historically accurate film of jackson and the events leading up to gettysburg. sincerely hope that some day the "directors cut" will be available on dvd and at the same time hope that roger ebert chokes on his review. .

Comments:	This is one of the worst, if not the worst, civil war movies ever to hit the screen. the battle scenes are laughable-bloodless reenactments, and its makers would like you to believe that stonewall jackson was a kindly, almost grandfatherly, man. if you find this film to be historically accurate, you need to do a little more reading. this is not what these men were like. this is not what civil war era combat was like. this is a horrible horrible horrible "film. " .

Comments:	Historically accurate, perhaps, but a highly sanitized version of history. Very cliche, badly directed and very poorly written. There was one of two moments with some good cinematography, though, but they were few and far between. It was a struggle not to turn it off before the end. awful! .

Comments:	I really enjoyed the dvd. The movie showed me the accuracy of the major battles from 1861-1863. Iam ahistory buff; esp. Cw history. I am a yank who grew up in va. They are my boys; esp. The irish brigade. I like jackson's faith and sense of duty. It was accuratly showen in the movie. I don't enjoy critics who pan a movie based on their personal bises. G and g was not based on race; but duty to one's state as seen in the 1900's. The 20th maine felt the same. The pa. Volunteers felt the same. The unionists felt the same. And so on. It mayn't seem so about unionists; but why volunteer if not so? .

Comments:	I love civil war movies mainly b/c i'm a civil war reenactor to. I can't belvie people well say that gods and generals sucks well u just don't know any thing about the civil war maybe that's why if you are a history buff about any thing this is a good one spcially if you are a cw buff. the battle scenes are acruittly correct just like in gettysburg movie. The time line and speaches are correct and it is verry well edited can't wait tell the 6 hour verison other know as directors cut who cares if it was 3 hours and 35 minutes long lord of the rings return of the king ran to be 3 hours and 12 minutes just as long almost. Same with pearl harbor with ben aflack worst movie ever made about usa war history by hollywood that was 4 hours long. So what now gods and generals deserves all the stars and respect it can get after it went threw and now ted turner should produce the "the last full measure" come on ted turner get off your ass there are people who want the movie to be made and seen on big screen. Please!.
