Comments: I thought this film beautiful and realistic, no fairy book romance, no compleatly disfunctional relationships. Two people discovering them selves through each other and life in a new country. .

Comments: The product of a generation on prozac. Everone in this film acts like they are comatose. painfully boring. Focus films should hire a writer. Drunk midnight scribblings on a paper napkin is not a movie script. .

Comments: Wife fell asleep after 20 minutes and she is the movie fan. Slow, slow, slow. The actors were fine but the plot was weak and really a no brainer. Some call it a cerebral movie but to the other 99% we are looking for good entertainment. poor bill couldn't really break loose as he was himself bored, tired, pooped and wanted to go home. If bill had been allowed to be himself then the movie would have taken off. Heck, groundhog day was by far his best movie, great acting and it had a twist at every turn. bill is too old and charlette too young to have them match up up correctly. They both needed someone closer to their own ages. In their own right they are fine actors but this movie was just plain boring and their characters were bored and the audience was bored. rename the movie " lost in boring translation".

Comments: Bill murray won an oscar for lying on a bed and staring at the ceiling. the dialog wasn't compelling, funny, or remotely interesting. i found the relationship between the two main characters creepy and inappropriate. I wished they would both just quit whining and fix their situations if they are unhappy. i was bored silly and believe the reviewers that "love" this movie are just afraid of being ridiculed for not being "sophisticated" if they admit they hate it. scenes of tokyo are nice, though. .

Rating:
Comments: A beautiful movie with an actual message that, in retrospect, grows more and more real with each passing day. Not a shot is wasted, despite what most people would have you believe. . . flawlessly acted by bill murray and scarlet johannsen; she's the girl you wish you could fall in love with, and he's the man you fear growing to be, and yet know that you will become. . . .
