another movie that doesn't add up to the sum of its parts.the acting is good and chemistry between them is ok but the story is too contrived and the setimentality of it just doesn't work.cute,predictable but rent it if you must.not the best movie at all.

This was a stupid movie, I was very grateful that I saw at the $1 theatre. There was just huge gaps in the story. <possible spoiler> For example, Matthew parents hire Jessica to help him grow up and get out of their house... later we find out the reason he is living at home is because his fiancee died... don't you think the parents would of explained to Jessica's character to start with. Yet Jessica being surprised by this piece of news is pivotal to the story. Also - Matthew's character has a 6 yr old black boy that is called his nephew, but it is later explained that he was the son of his deceased fiancee... The boy is six, the fiance died six years ago, the boy is black... what? Is it his child, is it someone else's child... did she die during childbirth... were they engaged while she was pregnant with someone elses child.... I just couldn't understand why they would randomly write the script this way... without it having any impact on the story or any real explanation...
This was a pointless movie.. had a few chuckles... but other than the very good looking leading man... a waste of an hour and a half.

This movie was really fun! I thought Sarah Jessica Parker played a great role, and having Kathy Bates playing Matthew's mother was the icing on the cake! That woman is great! I also liked Bradley Cooper in this movie, he plays Matthews best guy friend.....he's funny! And Matthew and Sarah had good chemistry on the screen which was nice to see.

The movie really lacks the two things that had the potential to make it great- loveable characters and good comedy. Unfortunately the characters were not loveable but shallow, rude and sometimes just down right nasty to one another and the comedy predictable and almost shoved down your throat. I really like the cast Matt and Jessica and Zooey, all really likeable actors, but not a good film.
