Big disappointment. Slow moving story and too complicated for kids. The humor was barely enough to make me chuckle and the whole thing left me feeling "that's it?" The lemur king was the only part worth watching.

Dreamworks is starting to have repetition in its movie and this could never compare to Shrek. I felt it lacked story line and kept jumping back and forth and you could never really tell what the story was. It had its moments but was not consistent. Good movie, but not great.

Wow! This movie was incredibly stupid. The voicing was somewhat good. The American Beauty reference was so stupid. It was pethetic & a waste of money. How could this make money? Chris Rock was funny while everyone else was ok. Its no Shrek. Go see Cinderella Man or Star Wars if you haven't seen it. But not this. I can't wait for that amazing movie coming soon whatever it is, MAKE THE GOOD MOVIE FINALLY

There was something intangible that stopped me from really loving this movie, but I still think it was great. It's definitely one of my favorite animated movies ever, right after Shrek, Shrek 2, and Finding Nemo.

Dreamworks never compares to Pixar/Disney films. It just seems poorly done and the humor is very stupid at times. Not good.

Started off good but once the main plot kicked in I was bored with the paint by numbers movie. Had a few funny moments here and there. Seemed like it aimed alot of jokes towards adults but they were too tame to entertain. The jokes for the kids were not close to being funny for adults and barley enough for a child. Okay for a rental and the voice acting was good. It looked good but looking at computer generated cartoons is becoming old hat. A much better story is needed for a cartoon to stand out and entertain beyond silly jokes and cool vibrant colors.

Really disappointed with this Dreamworks production. Forget comparison to the Shrek movies, this one is worse than Shark Tale! Definitely one for the kids, and not teens or adults, this movie was entertaining at times, but lacked a story or any real connection to any of the characters. The lemur king and the penguins were the best parts of this movie.
The film was very successful this weekend, mainly due to the fact that it was the ONLY film appropriate for the younger kids. The top three films this weekend were 80% of the weekend gross, and the other two (EIII, Longest Yard) are both PG-13.
Once word of mouth gets out, this movie's gross will drop quickly and it may not even break $100M.
Come on, Dreamworks! You can do better!
