WHAT A DELIGHT! A flick for the young AND the young at heart. Beautifully filmed, exquisitely acted, a simple story line about the triumph of good over evil, right and wrong judgment calls, how devious the forces of evil can be. Many reviews I read apriori said it was based on the bible, on the life of Christ. As hyper imaginative as I am, I did NOT see even a hint of religion here. It was MORE like The Neverending Story, creatively concocted, replete with hedgehogs [I had one as a pet when studying in Germany], dragons and satires. I have to find some of that Turkish Delight. I never heard of it before. The DVD set even has a recipe for it! Special effects were very good but the story was somewhat simple. It should appeal more to children than adults, but there could be adults that like it as much. It is entertaining, but I just didn't enjoy it. It comes across as a 'fairy tale' type of story - like The Wizard of Oz, only not as good. It cannot compare to the Lord of the Rings to which many, in conversation, make comparisons.

I have read this series of books countless times and was very eager to see the film. It turned out perfect, couldn't have been done much better. Great show for the family!
