this movie was dead on arrival.pales in comparsion to the original but even more then that,it never really involves you with any of the charecters.special effects are good but even they cannot keep this movie afloat.in the original it was about a half hour before the tidal wave hits.you got to know the charecters and you were rooting for them.this one,the wave hits like 10 minutes in and you could care less about anyone involved.this movie sucked on all levels.not even a good rental.go out and watch the original,as dated as it may be.

It was a surprisingly riveting movie. You could guess that not many would survive, but it was nevertheless interesting to see who would survive. also it was interesting to see how they would plan to get out the various narrow escapes.
The special effects complemented the story rather than detract from the story.

This movie was really good overall, I never seen the original however. It had all the elements in it to make it suspenceful and entertianing. The acting was reasonable I've seen better but I've seen alot worse. Fergie from the Black Eyed Pea's looekd amazing!!! Too bad she didn't have a bigger role in the movie!
YOU SHOULD DEFINITLY SEE THIS ONE IN THE THEATRE TO GET THE WHOLE EXPIERENCE!

Don't blink, don't even think about not being in your seat from the start of this movie. And forget about getting up again until this ride is over. I don't like to judge films by what they aren't. I would rather like or dislike a movie for what it is and not what is not. This is not Capra and for heavens sake, duh, it is not the original but what it is - is a good get the summer action thrill ride movie season off with a bang (sans any sofa jumping religious cultists baggage) heck of a fun movie.
