I feel it was a very lackluster effort from the writers, director and stars. .

At the beginning of the film, the prosecutor's jury consultant tells dustin hoffman's character "i believe in a world without guns". this is all there is to the film; the gun companies are the bad guys and the anti-gun lawyers are the good guys.
don't waste your time on this flick, unless you want to see what a weak case anti-gun activists actually have for wanting to take away the right for all law-abiding people to carry arms.

Solid plot. . Good twists.
gene hackman is at his best. Cusak an co are good, solid. Hoffman delivers the usual good.
very well shot, with good tempo.
story is a bit hard to bring to reality at times (i'm not a conspiracist . . ) but all the typical mit lingo that holliwood uses is a bit too much. . Still it tells the story well. .

This movie totally destroyed the classic john grisham book it supposedly was about. the only thing that kept me from up and walking out was john cusack, and maybe the fact that gene hackman and dustin hoffamn are good actors. unfortunately for them their name is now linked with this movie. the plot was unrealistic and pointless. the jury was badly portrayed and added absolutely nothing to the movie. i wouldn't give this movie more than the two hours of my time it took to watch, and the three minutes i'm taking now to warn the rest of you. but hey, feel free to waste your time. .
